In October 2008, the German International School Doha was established as an officially recognized German overseas school, situated in the Al Maamoura area of Doha. This institution operates under the supervision and support of the German Ministers of Culture (KMK) and the Central Federal Agency for German Schools in Foreign Countries (Zentralstelle für das Auslandschulwesen). Catering to German-speaking children and those aspiring to acquire proficiency in the German language, the German International School Doha offers a comprehensive educational program starting from Kindergarten. This program aligns with the curriculum of the federal state of Thuringia while adapting to the requirements outlined by the Supreme Education Council of Qatar. The school encompasses a Kindergarten, a Primary School serving grades 1 through 4, as well as Secondary School I and II. For grades 11 and 12, the school follows the specifications of the IB Diploma-Programme® offered in both German and English languages. To meet the demands of a modern society, the German International School Doha operates as a modified day school, with core subjects predominantly scheduled in the morning. Additionally, this school is an integral part of a global network comprising 140 German Schools abroad. In 2018, the German International School Doha achieved recognition for its excellence when it received the "Excellent German School Abroad" quality seal, following a successful Federal State Inspection (BLI).
