About

The school's history traces back to its founding by the monks commissioned by the Holy See (Vatican State) in 1847. Its fundamental mission has been the preservation of Armenian heritage, language, and culture for the benefit of Armenian children. The inaugural monastic festival took place on December 9, 1847, following the establishment of the Order, which was named in honor of the Virgin Mary (Immaculate Conception). Initially located in Turkey, the monastic foundation relocated to its primary residence in Rome in 1922. Over time, the Order witnessed a growing number of vocations and expanded its presence globally. Notably, the Armenian Catholic Sisters School in Cairo was established as a response to the Armani Catholic Patriarchate's request to provide educational opportunities for the dispersed Armani community worldwide, a consequence of the Armani massacre in 1915 that led to the martyrdom of many Armenians. In September 1937, at the invitation of the distinguished Archbishop/Priest Hagop Nesman, three Armani Catholic nuns arrived in Cairo and founded the Armani Catholic Nuns School. Initially, the school offered instruction in the Armani language and Christian religion in local churches and Faggala schools. Subsequently, the school purchased a sizable plot of land in what is now Heliopolis, specifically Al-Mirghani Street, near Faten Hamama station, where a modern two-story building was constructed to accommodate its expanding educational mission.
