The American International School in Abu Dhabi was founded in 1995 with the aim of delivering high-quality American education to both local residents and expatriates residing in Abu Dhabi. The school's educational standards align with those of the United States and incorporate an international curriculum to cater to a diverse student body. Accreditation for AISA was first granted in October 1997 by the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges (MSA). Subsequently, in January 2010, the school earned accreditation from the Council of International Schools (CIS). AISA provides comprehensive education spanning from Kindergarten to Grade 12. The school has a pioneering history, as it was the first institution in the United Arab Emirates to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Furthermore, it achieved the distinction of becoming the inaugural school in Abu Dhabi to receive authorization for offering the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). Additionally, in compliance with local regulations, the Secondary School operates with gender segregation.
