About

Welcome to the German International School Abu Dhabi! The school expresses its gratitude for the interest shown. GISAD has a founding year of 1976, and the institution takes pride in its long-standing history within the United Arab Emirates. In the academic year 2006/2007, GISAD achieved official recognition as part of the German International School Network. Subsequently, all certificates issued by the school hold full recognition in Germany. This recognition equates our institution with other accepted educational establishments, regardless of their origin. Consequently, our students enjoy equal access to the full spectrum of the German education system. Notably, they can pursue opportunities at colleges and universities in Germany and worldwide, especially through the Abitur program. The teaching staff at GISAD is distinguished by their rigorous training, which includes state examinations for teachers and state diplomas for educators. This dedicated team brings a wealth of experience from the German-speaking world and from various international contexts. The overarching goal of the school is to empower students to embark on successful academic journeys that lay the foundation for promising futures. This entails not only imparting excellent knowledge but also instilling a deep understanding of German culture and fostering a high level of intercultural competence. In 2005/2006, GISAD received a generous donation from His Highness Mohammed bin Zayed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. This donation facilitated the school's relocation to its spacious and modern campus, enabling an expansion of its academic offerings. The H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed scholarship made it possible for Emirati children to join the school community from a young age. As a result, in the school year 2018/2019, GISAD proudly conferred the German International Abitur upon its first Emirati student.
